Thalia Stratton graduated with honors and distinction from the University of San Francisco/Academy of Art University 1989 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Fashion Illustration. In 2010, received her Master of Fine Arts Degree in Painting from the Academy of Art University.
Ms. Stratton has owned and operated her own art and design studio since 1989. Thalia has taught at the college level, including at San Francisco State University, and has worked professionally for Givenchy-Paris, Neiman Marcus, Playboy Enterprises, the San Francisco Ballet and I. Magnin and Co. Thalia has also developed various product lines for the wine industry of Napa and Sonoma Valley.
In the late 1990’s, Thalia entered the Fine Art world, creating pastels, illustrations and oil paintings which were sold throughout the United States. She has also been widely published in publications including Gentry Magazine, the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Jose Mercury News, American Art Collector, Southwest Art and Fine Art Connoisseur and American Art Review. She has also been awarded the award of Excellence from the National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society (2015) the Ethel Gilmore-Charles J. Roman Memorial Award from Allied Artists of America (2016) and a National Honorable Mention from the Pastel Journal. She has published two books, The Art of Dining and The Art of Dining: Epicurean Delights, a cookbook she co designed with her nephew John Stratton, a San Francisco Culinary Institute, Cordon Bleu trained chef.
Thalia is also current member of several professional societies, including the Salmagundi Club in New York City, where she has also exhibited on several occasions; Oil Painters of America, where she is a Signature member, exhibiting in both the National and Western Regional Juried Exhibitions; Allied Artists of America; the National Impressionist Society, and the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society.
Ms. Stratton is currently represented in galleries across the Western and Southwestern United States and has exhibited at the Gilcrease Museum Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Most recently, Thalia was awarded the Grand Prize in the International Artist Magazine Challenge No. 120, and has been made a Signature member of both the Oil Painters of America and the National Oil & Acrylic Painters’ Society.
